NEURON Cofund2 Project 2023 Joint International Call Preliminary Announcement!

The aim of the call is to support multinational, collaborative research projects that will address critical translational questions to advance knowledge about neurobiological mechanisms related to resilience or vulnerability to environmental challenges in mental health.

The current call aims to fund from preclinical research addressing the neurobiological mechanistic understanding of vulnerability and resilience to mental disorders to proof-of-concept clinical studies. Research areas may cover a wide range of fields, including genetic, epigenetic, anatomical, molecular, immunological, and endocrine mechanisms. Proposals aiming to develop predictive, preventive, diagnostic, and/or therapeutic approaches with the potential to enhance resilience based on known or hypothetical neurobiological mechanisms and proposals aiming to understand the neurobiological basis of therapeutic technologies supporting resilience are within the scope of this call.

Only international projects will be funded. Each consortium submitting a proposal must consist of research groups from at least three different countries. The number of research groups in a consortium is limited to five. A maximum of two research groups can be from the same country. The number of partners in consortia, including partners from countries that have received less support in the ERA-NET NEURON funding scheme so far, can be increased to six. Researchers from other countries can also participate in projects, provided they secure their own funding sources, without exceeding the aforementioned number of research groups.
